Lyocell
There’s more than one way to turn bamboo pulp into finished fabrics. Traditional bamboo viscose production relies on toxic chemicals, like sodium hydroxide, that are harmful to workers and damaging to waterways when released.1 At Bumboo, our process is different – and in all the right ways. Using the lyocell method, bamboo pulp is dissolved in an organic, non-toxic solvent inside a closed-loop system – this means that 99% of the water and solvent are recovered and reused.2 This method minimises the pollution linked with viscose processing while retaining bamboo’s best qualities: breathability, moisture-wicking, thermoregulation and softness. All perfect qualities for an intimate layer against your skin.
Our bamboo lyocell fabric is produced by OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100® specialists in Shaoxing, China, and using bamboo sourced from FSC®-certified forests. This is high-performance textile science meeting responsible design – and it’s what makes our fabric feel as good on your conscience as it does on your skin.
